The first time I heard METZ I was blown away. It felt like a punch to the ears. METZ has an enormous sound and they are incredibly loud. I saw them live shortly after discovering them and they opened for two forgettable bands which was too bad because the crowd hadn’t fully filled in yet. Their performance blew me away and I felt bad for the bands that had to follow. I’ll never forget how much sweat was flying off Alex Edkins, lead singer and guitarist, as he pulverized his instrument and sang with the same intensity you hear on the record. I’ll also never forget the middle part in ‘Wet Blanket’ where Chris Slorach, bassist, was sliding his hand and fingers up and down the entire neck of the bass repeatedly for what seemed like an excruciatingly painful amount of time. I am eagerly awaiting their next album, but in the meantime have a listen below.
